Northrop Grumman has delivered a test version of its Stand-in Attack Weapon (SiAW) to the US Air Force, designed to engage rapidly relocatable targets. This test missile will be used to validate the weapon’s safe carriage and release from its launch aircraft. In 2023, the US Air Force awarded Northrop Grumman a $705 million contract to develop and supply the SiAW for its F-35 fighter jet fleet. Under the agreement, the company is also responsible for testing and integrating the weapon to ensure compatibility with the fifth-generation aircraft, aiming to reach initial operational capability by 2026.
