Embraer has proposed an armed version of its C-390M Millennium for the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) tender, which seeks 60 aircraft. Outfitted with wing-mounted hardpoints, the upgraded C-390M would support air-to-surface weapons, enabling it to perform both transport and strike missions—including anti-land and anti-ship roles.
The platform could carry advanced munitions like the Rudram-II missile and NASM-MR, making it suitable for joint IAF and Navy use. Embraer also envisions the aircraft evolving into a mothership for deploying air-launched drones, aligning with the IAF’s future swarm and autonomous UAV warfare requirements.
