Following the Defence Acquisition Council’s (DAC) initial approval, the Indian Air Force has formally released a Request for Proposal to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for 97 Tejas Mark-IA fighter aircraft. This order represents a substantial boost to the IAF’s indigenous fleet and supports India’s self-reliance goals in defense production. The Tejas Mark-IA, with more than 65% indigenous content, introduces several improvements over the earlier Mk-1 version, enhancing operational effectiveness and technological sophistication.
