In a move to strengthen its aerial surveillance capabilities, China has introduced the KJ-3000, a next-generation AEW&C aircraft. Developed using the homegrown Y-20 transport aircraft as its base, the KJ-3000 is equipped with four powerful engines and two rotating AESA radars, providing full-spectrum situational awareness. State media suggest the aircraft will greatly improve the PLA’s operational reach and monitoring capacity in strategically sensitive areas like the South China Sea and the western Pacific.
