Parts from decommissioned Royal Air Force Tornado aircraft have been repurposed by grinding them into raw material and fabricating new components through 3D printing for the UK’s future military aircraft. Titanium-rich elements, including jet engine compressor blades, were identified for recycling. These parts were cleaned and reprocessed by Additive Manufacturing Solutions (AMS) into 3D-printed compressor blades and a nose cone, subsequently integrated into an Orpheus small engine demonstrator.
