Parsons Corporation will work with the US Air Force to outfit the JLTV with a directed energy system for bomb disposal as part of efforts to upgrade RADBO (Recovery of Airbase Denied by Ordnance) operations. These laser-armed vehicles are used to safely remove unexploded ordnance from operational areas. The Virginia-based defense firm will supply its Zeus 4 laser system, which can disable a wide range of explosives—more than 50 kinds—such as landmines and conventional bombs.
