Australia’s inaugural scalable high-power laser optical chain prototype was successfully demonstrated by QinetiQ in collaboration with DSTG. The event stems from a 2023 contract tasking the Hampshire-based firm with developing a flexible defensive laser system. According to QinetiQ, the successful test marks a significant step toward establishing homegrown directed energy technologies to neutralize both present and emerging threats from unmanned systems.
