Three F-35 Lightning II jets have arrived in Japan from the US, landing at Komatsu Air Base in Ishikawa. Outfitted with the advanced TR-3 avionics system—featuring a new display, faster core processor, and upgraded memory—these jets mark a significant enhancement for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. In preparation for integration, Tokyo held joint drills with US and Italian forces last year, including sending the Izumo-class destroyer JS Kaga (DDH-184) to the western U.S. coast for training operations.
