The U.S. Department of Defense has unveiled Project G.I., a new initiative designed to fast-track the production and deployment of small and medium-sized unmanned aerial systems (UAS). This program aims to respond swiftly to growing battlefield requirements by enabling rapid drone innovation.

Project G.I. calls on industry players to submit mission-ready and adaptable drone designs that may not be overly complex but can be scaled and fielded quickly. Unlike traditional programs, this effort emphasizes direct collaboration with soldiers to align development with real-time operational needs. Companies have until December 2025 to participate, and the top three submissions will receive a combined $20 million in funding support.
