GA-ASI (General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc.) is collaborating with Saab to integrate Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) capability into its MQ-9B Remotely Piloted Aircraft lineup, which includes the SkyGuardian®, SeaGuardian®, the UK’s Protector, and the MQ-9B STOL variant under development. The first flight of the MQ-9B equipped with AEW systems is targeted for 2026.

The partnership will leverage Saab’s AEW sensor technology alongside the MQ-9B, renowned for its long-range and extended endurance. This airborne early warning capability will provide a more accessible and cost-efficient alternative to conventional AEW&C platforms for operations over land and sea.
