Saab has unveiled a strategic cooperation with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems to develop an Unmanned Airborne Early Warning (UAEW) solution, which will utilize the MQ-9B unmanned aircraft platform.

The collaboration leverages Saab’s decades of AEW&C system experience and General Atomics’ advanced unmanned aircraft capabilities. Together, they will integrate Saab’s cutting-edge AEW sensors with the MQ-9B to deliver persistent, high-endurance surveillance and continuous monitoring for mission-critical areas.

This unmanned AEW capability will complement Saab’s existing portfolio, including the GlobalEye manned AEW&C system, while offering operators more versatile mission profiles, such as deploying from naval warships. It is designed for flexible use, whether as a stand-alone solution or within manned-unmanned operational teams.

Saab’s global track record, including support to NATO and allied nations, positions this UAEW system as a valuable addition to modern defense capabilities.
