In a joint appearance by French Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu and Albanian Defence Minister Pirro Vengu, Thales has been appointed the key industrial partner to swiftly provide a Ground Master 400 Alpha (GM400α) radar system. This decision fulfills Albania’s immediate requirement for advanced, combat-proven air surveillance capabilities.

In today’s strategic environment, protecting national airspace relies heavily on having real-time and comprehensive situational awareness. Constructing a reliable Recognised Air Picture (RAP) remains a major challenge for military operations worldwide.

The GM400α is highly acclaimed for its reliability, exceptional detection capabilities, and mobility. It provides advanced tracking of aerial threats, including low-flying UAVs, and offers a range of up to 515 kilometers. Its fully digital framework makes it a benchmark in modern radar systems.

To meet increasing global demand, Thales has tripled its Ground Master radar production and reinforced its supply chain. This allows the company to deliver over 30 units annually and respond rapidly to urgent defense requests. More than 270 Ground Master units have already been deployed worldwide.
