The US Army has accepted its first MV-75 Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) virtual prototype from Bell Textron, with a second to be delivered later this month to Fort Rucker’s Aviation Center of Excellence in Alabama.
The virtual prototype, created from the FLRAA’s digital twin, will play a key role in early design validation, operational assessment, and mission scenario testing. It can eventually be converted into a flight training simulator.
Army personnel will use the system to evaluate and refine the rotorcraft’s design, hardware, software, and operational safety, while also experimenting with tactics and mission planning.
The delivery results from the Army’s use of the accelerated Middle Tier of Acquisition pathway, which allowed the program to quickly reach its Milestone B decision in June 2024, advancing it to the next development phase.
He added that sustained support from the Army, the Department of Defense, and Congress has enabled the FLRAA program to deliver advanced aviation solutions at unprecedented speed.
