General Dynamics Electric Boat has received a $1.8 billion contract from the US Department of Defense to continue acquiring long lead-time materials for the Virginia-class Block VI submarines.
The award follows a series of prior contracts, including a $2.2 billion deal in 2023, a $1.3 billion contract from August 2024, and another valued at $1.06 billion in April, all supporting component procurement and pre-construction work for the next-generation submarine fleet.
In June, the company also signed a separate agreement covering lead yard support, supplier development, and advanced component design.
Work will take place at facilities in California and other locations throughout the US, with the project slated for completion by September 2035. General Dynamics will work closely with the US Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command to oversee the program.
