In a key milestone for India’s domestic defense innovation, Sharang Shakti—a Gurugram-based tech startup—has unveiled vajR, an autonomous, AI-driven hard-kill drone interceptor engineered to engage and destroy hostile UAVs in real-time. This system marks one of the first reusable, kinetic drone defense platforms developed by a private Indian company.

As drone threats become more prevalent at national borders, vajR offers a unique edge through its high-speed interception and AI-guided targeting. Unlike traditional soft-kill systems that disrupt signals, vajR directly collides with its target after launching autonomously from a dedicated hangar and receiving input from radar or optical sensors. This makes it particularly effective in high-risk areas where electronic countermeasures may fall short.
