Australia has committed to providing the Maldives with a Guardian-class patrol boat, reinforcing growing defense ties and maritime collaboration between the two nations.
The donation is intended to support the Maldives in securing its territorial waters and combating illegal activities across its exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the Indian Ocean.
The vessel will come with a sustainment package and hydrographic equipment, including a multi-beam echo sounder, to assist with ocean floor mapping for both safety and economic development efforts.
