Azerbaijan has increased its acquisition of JF-17 Thunder fighter jets from Pakistan, boosting the number from 16 to 40 units.
This move follows a 2024 deal valued at $1.6 billion aimed at strengthening Azerbaijan’s air force as regional tensions with Armenia continue.
With the agreement now estimated at $4.6 billion, Baku becomes the top international customer of Pakistan’s domestically produced fighter.
The new order also includes JF-17 Block III models, which come equipped with enhanced radar systems and modern avionics.
Pakistan initiated deliveries in September 2024, with the first jets reaching combat readiness the following month.
