After receiving limited interest in the BrahMos-2K hypersonic cruise missile, BrahMos Aerospace and its Russian partner are reassessing the missile’s design and pricing. Feedback centered on high development and per-unit costs, prompting efforts to improve capabilities while reducing expenses.
Based on Russia’s 3M22 Zircon, the BrahMos-2K was planned to reach Mach 6 speeds with an 800–900 km range. Unlike strategic nuclear systems, it was developed exclusively for conventional use, aimed at bolstering India’s advanced strike capabilities.
