BDT UK has showcased the Beretta New Assault Rifle Platform alongside a Sako AR-15-style weapon in its campaign to replace the British Armed Forces’ long-serving standard-issue rifle.
The initiative is part of Project Grayburn, which aims to define the specifications for a next-generation firearm to replace the SA80 L85, in service since the 1980s and set for retirement by 2030.
During the transition, the L85 will continue to be fielded, with phased procurement of up to 172,000 new rifles anticipated over the next ten years.
