Lumibird Photonics, based in Sweden, has secured a deal with Saab to deliver 57 VIDAR laser rangefinders for use on the Royal Danish Navy’s frigates.
The systems will be supplied between 2025 and 2026 and will be integrated into Saab’s CEROS fire control systems. The VIDAR rangefinders will provide high-speed, real-time distance tracking, significantly improving the frigates’ ability to target and engage fast, maneuvering threats like drones and small surface vessels with precision.
