The United Kingdom and Ukraine have formalized a defense cooperation agreement to jointly advance battlefield technologies, with an initial focus on expanding drone production and strengthening defense industry collaboration.
The announcement came during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to London, where he met UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Under the agreement, Ukraine will provide battlefield intelligence to British defense manufacturers to help accelerate the development, mass production, and front-line deployment of military equipment.
While the initial phase will center on sharing drone-based air defense expertise, the agreement also sets the stage for future joint capability development that will continue beyond the war.
The first contracts between British and Ukrainian defense companies are expected to be signed within weeks.
Funding for this partnership will come from the UK’s 4.5-billion-pound ($6 billion) military aid package for Ukraine this year, alongside a long-term commitment of 3 billion pounds ($4 billion) in annual defense support over the next three years.
