The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has completed Exercise Carlsbad at Base Tindal, Northern Territory, marking the first time the MQ-28A Ghost Bat has been deployed and operated outside of its primary base at Woomera Training Area in South Australia.
The exercise assessed the Ghost Bat’s performance in a new operational setting, focusing on logistics, system verification, and mission preparedness.
Transported via C-17 Globemaster from the Australian International Air Show, the MQ-28A’s deployment is part of a series of trials scheduled this year to expand and refine its operational role.
The MQ-28A, an uncrewed aircraft capable of supporting manned fighter operations, enhances both situational awareness and air combat survivability.
He credited the exercise’s success to the strong partnership between the Royal Australian Air Force and Boeing Defence Australia.
