Taiwan has conducted its first live-fire test of the Land Sword II, a domestically produced surface-to-air missile system, in a bid to boost its air defense amid growing tensions with China.
Troops from the 43rd and 58th Artillery Command fired three missiles in 30 minutes at a Pingtung County base, all of which hit their drone targets.
The drill, aimed at testing operational readiness, comes as Taiwan prepares for possible conflict with China, which continues to claim the island and threatens to use force if necessary.
