General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), known for producing advanced drones like the Predator® and YFQ-42A, has introduced a new compact launched effect platform called PELE, tailored for international defense partners.

Named after Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire and volcanoes, the Precision Exportable Launched Effect is a lightweight, propeller-driven drone intended to enhance the capabilities of manned or unmanned mothership aircraft. It features an 11-foot wingspan and a 16-horsepower engine, enabling it to operate semi-autonomously in high-threat environments and be ground-launched if needed.

PELE is purpose-built to complement GA-ASI’s MQ-9B SkyGuardian®, a versatile multi-role UAV, by expanding its sensor reach and mission flexibility across land and maritime environments.
