
Germany’s defense procurement agency has awarded Rheinmetall a follow-on framework contract valued at up to 3.1 billion euros ($3.2 billion) for the supply of cutting-edge soldier-systems. The deal includes the production and delivery of up to 368 IdZ-ES (Infantry Soldier of the Future – Enhanced System) platoon units by 2030. Each platoon system consists of 34 individual soldier kits along with essential peripherals such as IT systems, optical and optronic devices, protective gear, and carrying equipment—marking the largest soldier-systems procurement in the nation’s history.
