Reliance Defence of India and German defense giant Rheinmetall have entered into a strategic partnership through a memorandum of understanding aimed at high-volume ammunition manufacturing. The collaboration includes the creation of a state-of-the-art production facility by Reliance in the Watad industrial region, capable of producing up to 200,000 artillery rounds, 10,000 tons of explosives, and 2,000 tons of propellants annually. The deal will see Reliance supply Rheinmetall with key materials for medium- and large-caliber munitions, boosting the European company’s supply chain resilience. The initiative also supports India’s “Make in India” program and aligns with national objectives to expand defense exports and supply the country’s armed forces.
