The Indian Navy’s long-pending plan to acquire amphibious warships, or Landing Platform Docks (LPDs), has been delayed for over a decade but is now gaining momentum. India is working in collaboration with the United Kingdom to design and develop electric propulsion systems for its next-generation LPDs. The project will also benefit from the UK’s extensive shipbuilding expertise.
