
The Indian Ministry of Defence has signed contracts with state-owned BEML Ltd. for the supply of 8×8 high-mobility vehicles and heavy-duty military trailers for the Indian Army. The contract for the domestically produced 8×8 vehicles is valued at 1.36 billion rupees ($16 million), while the trailer procurement is estimated at 835 million rupees ($9.8 million). Although the total number of units has not been disclosed, BEML’s 8×8 vehicles feature a backbone tube chassis, independent suspension, and a high-powered air-cooled engine, offering enhanced mobility and stability across difficult terrain.
