To modernize its rotary-wing fleet, Ireland has approved the acquisition of four Airbus H145 helicopters, which will succeed the aging EC135s used by the Irish Air Corps. According to The Irish Times, the €91.7 million ($95.8 million) purchase will see deliveries completed by 2027, at which time the last two EC135 helicopters will be phased out. The new H145s will serve primarily as training platforms for the national police and security air support unit, equipping pilots for future operations involving larger, more complex systems.
