The Royal Canadian Navy has awarded Irving Shipbuilding of Nova Scotia an $8 billion CAD ($5.5 billion USD) contract to build the first three River-class destroyers. Under the six-year deal, the vessels—named Fraser, Saint-Laurent, and Mackenzie—will be developed along with associated services such as spare parts provisioning, maintenance, and crew training to support long-term vessel readiness.
