Fincantieri has been awarded a contract to build two more Pattugliatore Polivalente d’Altura (PPA) multipurpose combat ships for the Italian Navy, replacing vessels initially planned for Indonesia.

The contract is managed by the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation, with Fincantieri leading the project and Leonardo providing support.

Both ships will be delivered in the “light plus” variant, with completion expected in 2029 and 2030. Shipbuilding will take place at Fincantieri’s facilities in Riva Trigoso and Muggiano.

The program is estimated at 700 million euros ($810 million), which includes previously completed work on the ships originally designated for Indonesia.
