Japan is negotiating with Kawasaki Heavy Industries to acquire the K-RACER drone for military logistics operations.

Interest from the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force followed a 2024 demo where the drone successfully loaded and unloaded cargo autonomously. KHI has since engaged in talks with both the JGSDF and Japan’s Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency.

The K-RACER can carry 100 kilograms of cargo at altitudes up to 3,000 meters and is powered by the same engine as Kawasaki’s Ninja H2R motorcycle. Its seven-meter frame with a foldable tail allows for easy transport in standard shipping containers.
