At the 2025 International Paris Airshow, Leonardo and Baykar Technologies unveiled their new joint venture, LBA Systems, which will focus on the development and lifecycle support of unmanned aerial systems (UAS). This partnership builds on an MoU signed earlier in March 2025 in Rome. The new company, equally owned (50/50) by both partners, will be legally and operationally based in Italy.

Baykar will bring its deep expertise in the design and development of advanced unmanned platforms, while Leonardo will provide high-end electronic systems, mission payloads, and enable Manned-Unmanned Teaming and swarming operations. Leonardo will also manage system certification and qualification processes.

Leonardo and Baykar aim to jointly explore opportunities in both European and global defense markets through this venture. Beyond UAS development, the partners will assess further collaboration possibilities, including commercial synergies between their platforms and participation in joint projects across multi-domain digital ecosystems.
