Leonardo has secured a contract to supply a Multirole Maritime Patrol Aircraft based on the ATR 42-600 commercial platform for the Italian Coast Guard. The acquisition supports the service’s ongoing fleet modernization efforts, which already include three similar aircraft built on the ATR 42-200 and ATR 42-500 airframes. The new aircraft will feature enhanced communication, search, and surveillance systems capable of transmitting real-time data across the command chain.
