The US Navy has awarded Leonardo UK a $33 million contract to provide its BriteCloud 218 Active Expendable Decoys (AEDs) for the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet. This marks the first contract for the BriteCloud 218 specifically for the F-35, following its approval as a radar decoy in July. The agreement is set to fulfill operational requirements from fiscal year 2025 through fiscal year 2027.
