South Korea has completed the first flight of its locally developed mine countermeasures helicopter in South Gyeongsang Province.

This milestone is part of a 347.7-billion-won ($256.6 million) project initiated in 2022 to deliver a homegrown helicopter solution for naval minehunter support within the Republic of Korea Armed Forces.

The prototype will now enter extensive trials to validate its operational capabilities, advanced systems, and safety standards.

Korea Aerospace Industries and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) will continue to lead the helicopter’s development until its planned completion in 2026.
