To better connect virtual training with real-life battlefield conditions, the U.S. Army is adding haptics technology to its Synthetic Training Environment Live Training Systems (STE LTS).
Haptic devices simulate tactile sensations using wearable tech that delivers force and vibration feedback, creating a more lifelike training experience without the risks associated with live combat drills.
This integration will enable troops to feel physical cues such as recoil, resistance, and bullet impacts during virtual exercises. The Army is also considering expanding the system to simulate explosion effects in future iterations.
