Norway has signed a contract with Bertel O. Steen Defence & Security to procure advanced sniper rifle optics for its military. The deal, worth 92 million Norwegian kroner (approximately $9 million), involves supplying the Thermis Mk2 thermal sight, known for its dual-use day and night capabilities.
The Thermis Mk2 enhances precision targeting and surveillance capabilities, allowing soldiers to effectively engage enemy personnel, vehicles, and equipment in all light conditions. These scopes will be mounted on the Norwegian Army’s newly acquired M107A1 anti-materiel rifles from Barrett Firearms, scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2025. Production of the sights will be carried out by Theon International in Greece and transferred to the Norwegian distributor by September next year.
