Overland AI has secured $100 million in funding to expand its autonomous ground vehicle operations with the US Armed Forces, marking a significant milestone in the operational adoption of robotic military systems.

The equity round was led by 8VC, with participation from Point72 Ventures, Ascend Venture Capital, Shasta Ventures, Overmatch Ventures, Valor Equity Partners, and StepStone Group.

The financing package also includes a $20 million venture debt facility from TriplePoint Capital. Overland AI said the capital will accelerate deployment of its ULTRA autonomous platform currently used by the US Army, Marine Corps, and US Special Operations Command.

The company emphasized its transition in 2025 from testing to operational employment, following completion of DARPA’s Robotic Autonomy in Complex Environments with Resiliency (RACER) program and expansion of ULTRA into missions such as counter-UAS operations, contested logistics, resupply, and breaching.

The move aligns with broader US military efforts to integrate autonomous systems across operational domains.

In March 2024, Milrem Robotics conducted a weaponized unmanned ground vehicle demonstration at the US Army’s Expeditionary Warrior Experiment.

During Project Convergence Capstone 4 in 2025, soldiers employed semi-autonomous platforms including the Ghost robotic dog and Small Multipurpose Equipment Transport (SMET) vehicles to enhance reconnaissance, logistics, and battlespace awareness, reflecting expanding battlefield autonomy.

Industry efforts have also accelerated. In October 2025, Oshkosh Defense unveiled its Light Multi-Mission Autonomous Vehicle, a modular platform designed for supervised autonomy in logistics and counter-UAS roles, with full integration into existing command-and-control architectures.

Meanwhile, General Dynamics Land Systems continues to advance autonomous and hybrid robotic systems, including SMET platforms and robotic combat prototypes such as the Tracked Robot 10-ton and Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle, supporting infantry operations and networked warfare concepts.
