HD Hyundai Heavy Industries of South Korea has signed a collaborative agreement with Peru’s SIMA to design and build a 1,500-ton submarine for the Peruvian Navy. The new vessel, modeled on Hyundai’s HDS-1500, will support efforts to upgrade Peru’s maritime capabilities by phasing out older submarines in favor of more modern platforms.
