Poland has committed 150 million Polish złoty (about $39.9 million) to purchase thousands of 120mm tank shells from Mesko, a company under the state-owned PGZ group. These rounds, classified as Armor-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding-Sabot Tracer (APFSDS-T), are each 7.3 kg and equipped with 8.4 kg of propellant. They are engineered to defeat heavily armored threats and come with a GUW-7-120 electric primer to ensure consistent ignition. The rounds reach speeds of approximately 1,670 m/s when fired. Specifically developed for use with the Leopard 2’s Rheinmetall Rh-120/L44 gun, the munitions may also be adaptable for the M256 cannon on M1 Abrams tanks, both of which are fielded by Polish forces.
