To bolster its military capabilities, Belgium intends to acquire between 200 and 300 Piorun shoulder-launched air defense systems from Poland. The letter of intent—signed by Defense Ministers Theo Francken of Belgium and Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz of Poland—includes provisions for training and support, though specific costs and delivery dates remain undisclosed. Produced by Polish manufacturer Mesko, the Piorun system has demonstrated combat effectiveness in Ukraine, successfully countering Russian drones, helicopters, and low-altitude aerial threats.
