Robin Radar Systems of the Netherlands has introduced a new longer-range configuration of its IRIS radar, enhancing defenses against hostile drones like the Shahed series.
The IRIS Long-Range Mode is a software-based upgrade that extends detection from 5 km (3.1 mi) to 12 km (7.5 mi), offering operators crucial extra warning time against drones flying at 180 km/h (111 mph) or more.
Proven through deployments in Ukraine and refined with direct operator feedback, the radar weighs only 29 kg (64 lbs) and is designed to track high-speed, low-signature targets while filtering natural interference.
It offers 360° coverage with a 60° elevation angle, providing accurate, mobile early-warning capabilities. Like the standard IRIS, the upgraded version supports networked counter-UAS architectures and requires no new hardware, allowing for quick in-field upgrades of existing units.
