NATO member Romania has signed an agreement with the United States to purchase 32 F-35 fighter jets, marking the country’s most significant military investment to date. The estimated $6.5 billion deal, approved by Romania’s parliament, comes more than two and a half years after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and reflects Romania’s growing strategic importance. This acquisition represents an unprecedented defense expenditure for the Eastern European nation, which borders Ukraine.
