The first production unit of the Royal Navy’s advanced MEWSIC (Maritime Electronic Warfare System Integrated Capability) has exited the assembly line and entered its final phase of testing and refinement. Designed for integration on the Queen Elizabeth-class carriers, Type 45 destroyers, and future Type 26 and 31 frigates, the system is being delivered under a £100 million ($125 million), 13-year contract. The project is led by Babcock in partnership with Elbit Systems UK and QinetiQ.
