Maxar Intelligence and Saab have agreed to jointly develop advanced multi-domain defense systems, with a key focus on satellite-enabled drone operations.

The collaboration aims to merge Maxar’s 3D terrain data and satellite imagery with Saab’s integrated defense technology.

This fusion will allow autonomous aerial systems to function efficiently in GPS-denied zones, offering enhanced navigation and targeting accuracy.

The agreement extends prior collaboration between the firms, including the evaluation of Saab’s Raptor software.

Raptor is a vision-based AI platform that enables drone navigation through visual recognition instead of GPS signals.

The technology processes live camera feeds with Maxar’s high-resolution 3D maps—covering over 90 million km²—to identify precise real-time coordinates and flight positions.
