Safran Electronics & Defense, a global leader in sophisticated defence technologies, and Babcock International Group have announced an initiative to increase collaboration across multi-domain mission systems, aircraft engines, space platforms, and tactical and strategic communications.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), formalized at the Paris Air Show, intends to merge the world-renowned expertise of Safran and Babcock to provide cutting-edge, competitive solutions to defence markets in the UK, France, and beyond.
This collaboration builds on a robust, long-term partnership between two influential defence companies whose capabilities span products from submarines to satellites. Together, they will pursue major defence projects across land, naval, and air domains while accelerating innovation and technology integration.
The agreement aligns with the shared defence objectives of the British and French governments under the Lancaster House Treaties, highlighting a unified commitment to strengthen European security and develop a resilient and sovereign industrial base for future defence challenges.
Under this agreement, the companies will engage in joint research and development initiatives, share best practices in engineering, manufacturing, and support functions, and enhance supply chain resilience to safeguard sovereignty and supply security. Both firms are dedicated to supporting government initiatives that promote economic growth and generate high-value employment in both countries.
By reinforcing this partnership, Safran and Babcock reaffirm their pledge to advance Franco-British cooperation, fostering national security, economic growth, and leadership in European defence.
