Saudi Arabia has signed a new contract with Spanish state-owned shipbuilder Navantia for the construction of three additional Avante 2200 corvettes. This follows an earlier agreement for five corvettes of the same class, initiated in 2022 and finalized in March. Under the latest deal, the first vessel will be built in Spain, while the second and third will be constructed in Saudi Arabia. The contract also includes logistics support, operational assessment, combat system testing, and training for Saudi engineers.
