Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) has rolled out the Freedom Trainer jet, its bid for the US Navy’s Undergraduate Jet Training System competition.
The clean-sheet aircraft is reportedly unique in its ability to conduct carrier deck touch-and-go maneuvers as well as Field Carrier Landing Practice to touchdown.
With this feature, naval flight students could train on critical carrier landing procedures much earlier than existing trainers allow.
