South Korea is close to finalizing a significant arms deal to provide K2 main battle tanks to Poland, according to the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA). Talks are reportedly in the final stretch.

The agreement would be an extension of the landmark $13.7 billion deal signed in 2022 between the two nations, covering tanks and fighter jets, as part of military support for Ukraine’s ally Poland.

Officials from DAPA told AFP that both government and corporate entities are working rapidly to conclude the deal, though specific figures remain undisclosed.

If inked, this contract would become South Korea’s largest ever for a single weapon platform.

Yonhap News reported the potential agreement could be valued at $6 billion, involving 117 K2 tanks built by Hyundai Rotem and another 63 to be manufactured locally by Poland’s state-run Polish Armaments Group.
